6th International Photojournalism Festival “City of Gijón”

The 6th International Photojournalism Festival "Ciudad de Gijon" will take place July 5-14, 2002
in the XV multicultural "Semana Negra".

Activities include:
2 Photography Exhibitions. They will be open to
the public July 5-14 from 5pm to 2am.

"PALESTINE-ISRAEL, tales from a war".

Prestigious International Photojournalists, Journalists, and Editors will participate in the festival

They will head workshops, conferences, discussions, and also serve as judges.

3 Audio-visual evenings on a giant screen with the projection of international reports: July 11,12 and 13 at 22:30 .

Photojournalism Workshop

The objective is to contribute to the formation of the new generation journalist. Theory and method training, which is an integrated part of the Journalism workshop directed by Javier Bauluz at the University of Oviedo, will be lead by masters in the photojournalism field.

Round-table Discussions Will take place at the "Carpa del Encuentro" July 11 and 13:

"From 11-S to 20-J, journalism and reality".
"Crisis of journalism"

Conferences, which will be given by guest journalists during the workshops

th International Photojournalism Prize "Ciudad de Gijon". The project that is selected as being
the best of all those presented, will receive 6.000 euros (about $5,000 US ). The winner will be announced at the closing ceremony.
